Inclusive Education
Education is a human right; it can also be a gateway out of poverty giving people the chance to a better lives. Inclusive education is the most effective way to give all children a fair chance to go to school, learn and develop the skills they need to thrive. Inclusive education means all children in the same classrooms, in the same schools. It means real learning opportunities for groups who have traditionally been excluded, including children with disabilities. Inclusive systems value the unique contributions students of all backgrounds bring to the classroom and allow diverse groups to grow side by side, to the benefit of all.
WACFO provides quality education through early childhood care and development for Special needs education at Victor Bruan inclusive school. The curriculum prioritizes creativity, play, experimentation, storytelling, use of visual aids, rest, food and drinks, provided by caring and compassionate teachers/teaching assistants. Pupils are trained on disability to become ambassadors and custodians of disability in their respective schools and homesteads. WACFO supports inclusive education activities in community aided and government aided schools in creating a friendly environment for learning to CWDs, through training teachers in sign language, scholastic materials, instruction material and construction of ramps at the entrance of classrooms and toilets towards improved access for learners with physical disability.
About this theme
Inclusive Education bridges the gaps and barriers in enrolment, retention, and progression of children with disabilities (CWD) in Amuru District. It upholds their right to equal education, providing all children the chance to go to school and develop their skills. This approach opens windows of opportunity for job prospects and service delivery for everyone, ensuring a brighter future for all.
