Inclusive Health

SSHJM WACFO has two decades of experience in healthcare. Today, SSHJM WACFO predominantly focuses on inclusive health, health services and support for persons with disability. SSHJM WACFO inclusive health programme aims at equity of access and affordability of quality inclusive health, contributing to improved health outcomes and well-being of people who are excluded, or living in poverty, particularly persons with disabilities.
WACFO provides multi therapy rehabilitative services by holistic assessment, and therapeutic management, including physiotherapy, to children with various disabilities to aid intellectual development, independence, personal and environmental hygiene at Guadalupe Rehabilitation Centre, a referral center for multi therapy services for CWDs. Corrective surgery services are provided by our partner hospitals. Post-operative management of CWDs is also done with nursing care, physiotherapy support with essential drugs, leading to improved mobility and socialization. The Community Based Rehabilitation Workers create awareness through sensitization on disability, proper nutrition, hygiene and sanitation to parents of CWDs, provide therapy such as physiotherapy, psycho-social therapy and continued support to CWDs on the use of assistive devices, benefits of prompt ANC and distribution of Mama kits to pregnant mothers towards safe delivery, for reduction of birth complications that cause disability and neonatal death.
About this theme
There is a significant lack of knowledge on disability prevention and management within communities, leading to gross discrimination against people with disabilities (PWD) at home, communities, job market and therefore hindering their potential to live a meaningful life. This theme aims to promote equal participation for PWD through healthcare services and ensure their rights are upheld, fostering a more inclusive society.
Our work & the Global Goals
SSHJM WACFO's work in Inclusive Health is supporting the United Nations Sustainable Development Goal No. 3: Good Health and Well-Being
